Childcare Options for Working Moms

One of the advantages of running your own business is that you have flexible child care options. In fact, for many women, that is one of the big incentives for running their own businesses. When you are a working mom you have a lot of childcare options available; the key is to find the right fit for you and your family.
Depending on your business and the type of schedule that you keep, a nanny may be a great option for you. You can choose a live-in nanny or a live-out nanny, but with both situations your children will have consistent care that can be very flexible. On the other hand, you can always choose day homes or day cares. These are great solutions if you need childcare on a very regular basis with consistent hours.

However, many working moms don’t find the need for continuous childcare. Instead they might be able to work from a home-office, balancing work and family life. Inevitably, however there will be meetings or appointments when you need someone to watch your children. You can rely on family and friends to some extent, and that is great if you have the option. However, a more realistic choice might be to find someone who can care for your children on a drop-in basis.

Sometimes the best solution for working moms is to have a variety of childcare solutions organized. If you have regular monthly meetings, it is easy to line up a regular babysitter. However, you may be able to use a local teenager for evening appointments, or schedule things around your husbands schedule as another option. It is probably a good idea to have a few childcare options lined up for various situations and always plan in advance. A back up plan is always recommended, particularly when you have a very important meeting or a client that you must meet.

We always seem to see super-women on T.V., doing it all, raising incredible families and growing Fortune 500 Companies at the same time, but what’s behind all of that? How do they do that? Is it a special breed of women that are born with the secrets for balance? In The Milk Memos: How Real Moms Learned to Mix Business with Babies-and How You Can, Too (www.greatbooksandaudiobooks.com), Cate Colburn-Smith and Andrea Serrette put together their one-of-a-kind guide to balancing motherhood and work. It is based on actual journals kept by a group of IBM women during their visits to the company’s employee lactation room. Right away women responded, and the paper towel was eventually replaced by a series of notebooks, in which women offered one another advice and support on juggling work and a newborn. Based on the original notebooks, The Milk Memos is a heartwarming, encouraging (and often hilarious!) guide to working motherhood. You can find the Milk Memos on www.GreatBooksandAudiobooks.com.

Stay At Home moms, Get Motivated For Success

In today’s goal setting is taught as the first thing to do in achieving your dreams. So long as we don’t set our dreams to high we are taught we can reach them. Napoleon Hill said “Dream big dreams; Only big dreams have the power to move men’s souls”. Stay at home moms can get what the want out of life by setting their goals high and staying motivated.

Often we set our goals so low they become boring and mundane causing us to loose interest in them. They never really go away but they are put aside until later. Big goals and dreams motivate us to action. They cause us to take the extra step each day to accomplish them. Still there are those things in our lives that stop us from getting what we want out of life.

Procrastination will definitely kill your goals. We are all in one way or another guilty of procrastinating. Overcoming it can be a challenge in itself but in reality it is very simple. All you need do is ask yourself if what you are doing right now is moving you towards your goals or is it something that is keeping you from your goals. All stay at home moms have things that need to be done each day that are a part of life but do we keep doing those things when they are not needed. There are many distractions in life and things we would rather be doing than building a business and working towards our goals. It takes determination to fight through the distractions and to do what we know has to be done. By accomplishing the daily task that must be done you are pushing yourself one step closer to accomplishing your dreams. By putting those little things off until later you are putting your dreams to the side.

Procrastination can also come because of the faith you have in yourself and the goals you have set. If you do not believe they can be accomplished you can easily quit trying. If your goals are to small to actually matter you will also quit trying. Faith in yourself and in what you are trying to accomplish is the number one needed ingredient. You must have a strong desire to accomplish your goals, desire is just as important. if you have faith and desire there is absolutely nothing that can stop you no matter how big your dreams.

Setting big goals and pursuing big dreams can motivate you beyond what you thought you were capable of doing. Smaller more minor goals are just as important in staying motivated to reach your big goals. You smaller goals can be used to build upon your larger ones. You may have a goal of one day owning a thriving online business and you know certain things must be accomplished to reach that goal. An online business would need a blog to post your thoughts and build a customer base a long with a new website and a good size mailing list. Each one of these business building items are a goal in themselves and when accomplished push you one step closer to your ultimate goal. Each accomplishment will motivate you to push on to get the next item completed. As more and more of your smaller goals are completed you will know you are that much closer to accomplishing your dream.

While procrastination is the death of your dreams, action is the life of your dreams. Take the time to decide what you really want as opposed to what you are willing to settle for. Then write those dreams down and turn them into goals. Make them as big as you actually want them to be. Then write down what it will take to get what you really want and make these your smaller goals. Once that is don,e set the time aside each day to accomplish one of the smaller goals. Don’t put it off until later or let things get in your way. Go after each goal with a purpose, and you will soon find you are making a major accomplishment that will get you where you want to be. This will cause you to push even harder and to accomplish even more. Stay at home moms can get what they want out of life by simply staying motivated. Having big dreams can be the motivation you need.

Make Money On A Shoestring Budget With A Stay At Home Mom’s Business

I don’t have the money I need to run a stay at home mom’s business and make money. There are many people who would start an Internet business in today’s economy if they only had the money they needed. This article will explain where you can find the money that you will need and why you don’t really need as much as you may think.

Are you in this group of people who want and need to earn money to help with the family finances? If so, then let’s talk about how you can find the money you need and also discuss the fact that you really don’t need as much money as you may think you do to run a home based Internet business.

You have an Internet connection and a computer or you wouldn’t be reading this now, so this isn’t an issue. You also have a desire and a need to make money to supplement your income or, here again, you wouldn’t be reading this. Am I right so far? I think so.

There are lots of affiliate programs that you can sign up for and advertise for free. So, what is an affiliate program anyway? Simply stated, it’s a program that you can join which has a product or products that you promote through your own affiliate marketing efforts and whenever someone buys that product or products through your link the merchant who created the product pays you a commission.

So far you’ve learned how to make money with only the cost of your computer and an Internet connection through affiliate marketing.

But will I not have to advertise my stay at home mom’s business? Of course you will have to advertise or you simply won’t make money, but this is still not an issue as there are many ways to advertise on the Internet for free. There are traffic exchanges which you join and surf for credits. The more you surf these exchanges the more credits you will earn meaning your ads will be displayed to more people and more people seeing your ads equals more sales and more income. Join several of these traffic exchanges and be sure to place at least one ad on each of them promoting the other exchanges you have joined. Why should you do this? Because then people will join some of these exchanges through your link and as they surf for credits you will earn more ad credits for yourself. Pretty cool huh? And there are classified ad sites that are free to use. Yes, here it is, even more free promotional techniques.

But what if I’m not a stay at home mom? Relax, you can run a stay at home moms business without being a mom who stays at home. You don’t even have to be a mom. You can be a dad or you don’t even have to be a parent at all. This is called a “long tailed keyword phrase” which many marketers use as it doesn’t have a lot of advertiser competition and it permits marketers to gain higher search engine rankings sooner and therefore get free traffic quicker without having to spend money on expensive pay per click advertising. Do you get what I’m saying here? This is just another way to operate a business without a lot of money.

Of course now all these free to very low cost methods do come with a price. You will have to spend a little more time to earn money without spending much money. After all, you’re reading this because you can spare more time than you can money.

So far I’ve explained why you don’t need a lot of money to earn money with an Internet business but I haven’t yet gotten to the part about how to find that money you didn’t think you had because there will be some need for money along the way, but nowhere near as much as you thought.

The fact that you have Internet access or you wouldn’t be reading this has already been discussed. You obviously have some income because Internet service isn’t free. Since you have some income you must have a job. You have to have transportation to your job. Let’s talk about how you can save some money getting to your job. If you drive a car you’re spending money for gas. If your job isn’t too far away you could consider riding a bicycle if you’re healthy enough. By doing this you’re saving money on gas and the Earth’s ozone layer and you’re also getting exercise which is good for your health. You could use your local public transportation if this isn’t an option, which is much less expensive than driving yourself and then there’s the possibility of carpooling with friends. Maybe you drive a gas guzzler but a friend who works with you has one of those little foreign cars that practically runs on air. Your friend may consider only using his car and the two of you split the gas as this will save money for you both.

You surely have a lunch break at work. Do you go out and eat lunch? There’s at least three to five dollars a day. You can save a considerable amount of money by brown-bagging your lunch from home. Yes, I know that you had to buy the groceries that you bring from home but that’s less expensive than fast food burgers or the local steakhouse.

So now you can see that you really don’t need as much money to earn money by advertising your stay at home mom’s business through affiliate marketing as you thought you did, and you now know how to find the money that you need by implementing a few simple money saving methods.

The Challenges of Being a Working Mom and the Stay-at-Home Mom

A working mom and a Stay-at-Home mom are both moms in the real sense of the word. The only difference is how each one is dealing with the hassles of everyday living.
The typical mornings of a working mom with a kid or two (or more) are always hectic. Sometimes mornings are confrontational especially when you are getting everyone up as early as five or six. The usual reaction especially of the young children is not good. You dont want a puckered brow very early in the morning, do you? Better meet a frowning little child with a sweet smile and youll end up winning each others charm.

Another challenge is feeding your family with food you know they will like. Mere preparation already takes time. You dont want to be late for work, so you have to have that fine precision to give the perfect meal every morning.

After getting all things done for your family, its time to prepare yourself for work. Dressing up and eating the right food before going to work is usually at the bottom of your priority list. This is not healthy. You have to give yourself a break and be at your finest every day. You are not only obligated to give the best for your family, but your work needs that perfection too.

      Stay-at-Home Mom:

Every morning is not as fast pace as the working moms. Although you are also duty-bound to prepare the best for your family very early in the morning, at least you have all the time to prepare the everyday challenges of getting things done because time is not racing with you.

Working moms and stay at home moms have one thing in common: both are considered hero in their field of expertise.

Legitimate Work At Home Opportunities for Stay At Home Moms

There are several types of home-based business opportunities for stay at home moms. Many stay at home moms are seeking legitimate business opportunities that they can build up into a lucrative source of income for their families. The internet is full of scams but the following opportunities are some of the legitimate businesses that can create the freedom and financial independence stay at home moms are in search of.

        Selling Items Online
There are a few ways you can go about this. You can obtain a reseller’s license and purchase items wholesale and sell through an online store. If purchasing wholesale items is not of interest, you can also market other people’s items and earn commission from sales (also known as affiliate marketing.) Many stay at home moms also come up with their own product(s) created out of necessity which they then reproduce and sell online. Selling online is a great source of income and with the right products, an online store could be a source of income for many years.

        Writing for Profits
Writing for a living may not seem like a legitimate home-based business but you would be surprised at how many people actually earn a full-time income from their blogs or ghostwriting for others. If you have a knack for writing and enjoy writing about a particular subject, you could start up a blog (most blog software is free) and begin writing. Once your audience grows, you will be able to monetize your blog with PPC (Pay-Per-Click) ads and sell advertising space. Ghostwriting is the writing of articles, ebooks, etc. for other companies. You can create a portfolio of your writing and sign up at freelance web sites to bid on various projects.

        Network Marketing
Network marketing is an ideal opportunity for many work at home moms. It involves the direct selling of a particular product or products and also includes the building up of a downline. A downline includes the people you recruit and you earn commissions on their sales. When you sign up with a network marketing company, you are also in someone’s downline and they are known as your sponsor. The great thing about network marketing is that everyone is helping each other succeed. The more successful everyone is, the more income created for everyone involved.

          Working Mom Worry

Do you worry about your children? Of course you do. We all do! As a parent, a little bit of anxiety is natural. In addition to the stress of being a parent, as a working mother, you have the additional stress of “working mom worry,” and that type of worrying offers another dynamic to your life as a mother.

If you have already begun working after giving birth, you know what I’m talking about. For all of you new mothers or soon to be mothers, when you begin working again, you will undoubtedly have to leave your child in the care of someone else. Whether you are leaving your child with your spouse, a close relative, or a caregiver, you will worry about them. This is a natural function of motherhood and it is very hard, if not impossible, to shut it off. At some point, it will be necessary to learn how to suppress some of that worry in order to function productively throughout the day without biting too many fingernails off.

The best way to minimize the amount of worry that you have is to choose a childcare provider that you trust. This may be a family member, a childcare center or day home that you’ve researched and has great references. Be sure that you have access to your childcare provider by phone throughout the day and make it clear to them that they should call you if there is a problem or a concern with your child. Some wonderful websites for childcare resources are: ChildCareAware.org, KidsHealth.org, and FindCareNow.com.

There will be times in your working life where you may have to leave your child when they are sick because of an important meeting or other unavoidable event. And of course, a situation like this will increase your worry about your child. Again, it is important for your sanity and your business to control the situation as much as possible. Choose a trusted caregiver and try to return home to your child as soon as is possible.

It would be unrealistic to expect you to shut off your working mom worry, but you have to trust your instincts and know that working at your business is the best thing for your child as well as yourself.

How you deal with anxiety can greatly affect the people around you, but more importantly it can affect you in a destructive way. The Coping & Stress Profile® created by Inscape Publishing is a unique, self-directed learning instrument that provides people with valuable feedback on stress and coping in four interconnected areas of life: Personal, Work, Couple, and Family. Today’s workplace demands high performance of its employees, but that no longer means putting work ahead of everything else. Organizations formerly disregarded the need to balance life outside of work and accepted the fact that productivity suffered as a result. Today’s more dynamic, team-oriented organizations require flexible, creative, sustainable performance, the kind that comes with people who know how to balance the urgent demands of work life and personal life without sacrificing either.

The Coping & Stress Profile® uses an engaging process of personal learning that:

          * provides critical insight into how stress in one area of life impacts other areas

          * examines how coping resources in one area can be used to decrease stress in another

          * shows the relationship between stress, coping resources, and overall satisfaction

            Work at home jobs

            By Theresa Morse

How would you like to sit in the comfort of your own home and get a nice big paycheck at the end of the month!! You can work whenever you’d like, morning, noon, night… Midnight if you’d like… it doesn’t matter. Get paid for your time. Work for 30 minutes or three hours, it doesn’t matter…you set your own hours!

Work-at-home jobs are perfect for stay at home moms, students, or someone that just doesn’t have time for a commute to a dead end, part time job. OR, for anyone who wants to sit in their pajamas and work at home!!

Some people do it part-time for an extra $250-$500/month to pay their car payment. Others work full-time and make enough to quit their day jobs! It’s your choice. Most online job opportunities are all simple and easy ways to stay at home, and make a great income.

Personally I love it! I take my son to school, come home and start working. I work for maybe an hour or two, and then head off to the gym. Come home and do a few more hours of work. Run out to do a few errands and pick up my son from school. I fit my work in whenever I can. The part I like best is I can do it for 5 minutes or a few hours… I can fit it in whenever I have time and I’m not tied down for long periods of time and I never have to leave the house!

My mom is retired and really needs the extra money. My sister is just out of college and has a great job… but really needs a few hundred extra a month for the extras we all enjoy. My best friend just had a baby and when I told her what I was doing and how much I was making she tried it out before going back to work. She is so happy she did… now she stays home with her daughter and makes great money… and she spends wonderful quality time with her child. This is such a great job I know you will just love it.
Now you can get started making great money working on your computer online.

Beat The Stay At Home Mom Blues

Screaming kids, never ending laundry, lack of sleep, a hot meal, what’s that? Those along with many other perks that go along with being a stay at home mom, (yes that’s sarcasm), can sometimes leave us feeling overwhelmed, moody; having the blues.

An issue that often comes up is not feeling appreciated as a stay at home mom. We don’t get yearly reviews hearing about what a wonderful job we are doing; a paycheck isn’t handed to us for our hard work. What we do get are hugs and kisses, hearing the words I love you or thanks mom. We get to be a kid again, finger paint in the afternoon. All of those perks make me smile and feel happy.

There are many ways to beat the stay at home mom blues. Finding time for yourself is a MUST! Bring out the crayons and coloring books, while they color, go into your room for some quiet, private time. If your child naps, close your eyes too for a while, or take a warm bath or shower. Put in a mid afternoon movie for them and pick up that book or magazine you can’t seem to find time for.

Feel good about your choice to stay at home with your kids. Appreciate yourself for all the hard work you put into your job at home. Positive thinking and knowing what a wonderful job you are doing can help keep those blues away. Another way to beat the blues is to have interaction with other moms. Look into finding, or even starting, a group for stay at home moms. The computer is a great resource for researching for your area. Set up play dates, go to the park and start up a conversation with another mom. No one understands what a stay at home mom goes through like another stay at home mom.

Only you can beat the stay at home mom blues. If you really think about it, you have the best job in the world.
